A Message From Our Chairmen

The Africa Fintech Festival 2021 is around the corner, and we have received a lot of feedback from all corners of the globe around the challenges everyone is experiencing in being able to attend this event in person.

Whilst there have been some easing globally of travel restrictions, this has not been the case for a majority of our participants, partners and stakeholders. The purpose of the festival is to enable collaboration, networking and opportunities in the FinTech space in Africa, along with providing an equal opportunity to all.

As such, the Africa Fintech Network (AFN) board, in collaboration with the Mauritius African Fintech Hub (MAFH) have made a joint decision to change the format of the festival from a hybrid to a purely virtual event, and to postpone the physical event until February/March 2022.

The decision to make the virtual event freely available to everyone also aligns with our vision of inclusivity for all to participate in the discussions. The AFN President, Dr Segun Aina states; “In the unexpected circumstances today, this is definitely a tough but appropriate decision for us at AFN. AFN takes compliance with local health advisory and safety of ecosystem players as extremely important. This is a sad reminder that the pandemic is still with us and we need to continue to stay safe. In spite of the change of AFF 2021 to fully virtual, I assure all our stakeholders that AFN and MAFH are committed to delivering a world class event with valuable outcomes for all”.

We would like to thank everyone for your feedback, our partners, sponsors, participants and everyone involved in this event for being with us on this journey, and we look forward to seeing you all on the 13th -15th of October, online.

– Mike Rees, Chairman of MAFH
